Relief Wells

killing the wild well by drilling another well (relief well) which is drilled directionally. The relief well should intercept or pass to within a few feet of the bottom of the wild well (example, deep water horizon, Gulf of Mexico, BP)

Fault Drilling

to minimize the casing damage by drilling parallel to a fault.

Inaccessible Locations

blocked by some obstacle at surface such as river, mountain, city, airport, protected locations etc.

Sidetracking/Straightening

to control well inclination angle and to correct the path of the well, e.g. drilling around a stuck pipe or fish, or plug back the well to drill to an alternative target.

Multi-well Platform Drilling

making the field development, economically feasible by drilling a number of wells from one Location (platform), both onshore and offshore.

Multilateral wells

are new evolution of horizontal wells in which several wellbore branches radiate from the main which several wellbore branches radiate from the main borehole.
